Role

Vice President – Underwriter is responsible for processing various Borrower consents within Berkadia\'s Servicing portfolio, including assumptions, ownership transfers, modifications, and collateral changes. This role involves personally handling or overseeing the underwriting of complex and high-profile transactions, as well as routine matters, while managing the entire Lender consent process both internally and externally. All transactions must be underwritten and processed in strict accordance with loan documentation, GSE Guides, servicing agreements, and internal guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform or oversee contractors\' underwriting of transactions and consents.
  • Ensure that Lenders\' and Investors\' credit standards are maintained and that identified risks are properly mitigated.
  • Effectively and continually communicate with all concerned parties, including Berkadia Mortgage Bankers, regarding the progress of underwriting and approval processes.
  • Maintain a pipeline of approximately 25–35 transactions, ensuring all deals progress in accordance with document and Servicing Agreement requirements, as well as Borrower expectations.
  • Assist in the development of team members in our India offices.
  • Manage all escalated and complex issues, elevating them to Senior Management when appropriate.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel, vendors, clients, investors, and internal customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in commercial real estate finance, servicing operations, and mortgage documentation.
  • Strong written, oral, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and organizational skills with a focus on time management and results.
  • Proficient in Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Ginnie Mae, HUD, and CMBS guidelines.
  • Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in a similar position.

    The provided base salary information for this position is part of an overall national range. The actual salary within our range for this position will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate. The total compensation package may include additional incentive opportunities.

    Compensation

    $125,000—$135,000 USD
