Summary
The Communications Specialist plays a vital role in advancing McGregor’s mission to serve older adults through innovative programs, housing, healthcare, and philanthropy. This position leads to the creation, development and implementation of integrated communication strategies that elevate McGregor’s visibility, strengthen community relationships, and share the organization’s impact across its continuum of services — including McGregor Foundation, McGregor PACE, McGregor Residential Living, and Hospice of Greater Cleveland.
This individual serves as hands-on communicator internally and externally— crafting compelling content, managing media and digital platforms, and aligning all communications across several platforms with McGregor’s brand. Key Responsibilities
1. Communications & Brand Management
- Support a comprehensive communications plan that supports McGregor’s mission, strategic priorities, and community impact goals.
- Ensure consistent brand voice and messaging across all McGregor entities and platforms.
- Collaborate with leadership to communicate key initiatives such as PACE expansion, workforce development, and philanthropic efforts.
- Strengthens McGregor’s reputation as a trusted leader and innovator in senior care and aging services by developing compelling communication materials.
2. Media & Public Relations
Build and maintain strong relationships with local industry partners and resources.Develop and distribute feature stories, and media advisories highlighting McGregor’s programs and success stories.Work with the various directors for subject matter that reflects our story.3. Content Development & Storytelling
Create innovative and engaging, mission-driven content for social media, websites, print materials / flyersCapture and tell authentic stories of residents, families, caregivers, & community partners.Collaborate with photographers, videographers, and designers to produce high-quality visual and written content.Assist CMO with editorial calendars and oversee timely content distribution.4. Digital Marketing & Social Media, Video
Create content to social platforms with current, accessible, and inspiring content.Implement email, digital, and video content campaigns that drive awareness for event participation for teams.Support McGregor’s social media presence and engagement strategy across omnichannel engagement resulting in measured outcomes.Monitor analytics to assess engagement and refine strategies for greater impact.5. Internal Communications
Strengthen internal communication channels to promote a culture of inclusiveness, employee engagement and alignment with McGregor’s mission and values.Develop internal messages, staff recognition features, and special event communications.Support HR and program departments with communication tools that foster collaboration and morale for annual service awards, elevate and leadership academy.6. Event Communications & Community Relations
Provide communication and marketing support for McGregor events, including community outreach programs, workforce initiatives, and special events.Develop materials — invitations, event programs, and post-event coverage.Coordinate with CMO and stakeholders to extend McGregor’s visibility and reach.7. Measurement, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Track communication outcomes using engagement metrics, media impressions, and web analytics.Prepare quarterly reports for CMO summarizing communication performance and recommendations for improvement.Participate in Sales and Marketing meetings and planning events.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.3-5 years of progressive experience in communications or marketing; nonprofit or healthcare experience strongly preferred.Exceptional writing, storytelling, innovation, creativity, and editing skills with an ability to convey empathy and authenticity.Experience managing social media, web content, and digital campaigns using a variety of platforms, formats, and programs.Proven success in media relations and strategic communication planning.Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Benefits
