The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work under the medical supervision of the head team physician and is responsible for working with the day-to-day athletic training operations for the assigned sport(s). Collaborate with the Director of Athletic Training with other administrative duties and special projects as assigned.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES : Injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athletes; pre-participation physicals; maintaining medical records and submitting medical documentation; completing required insurance claims; daily interaction and communication with coaching staff, team physicians, resident athletic trainers, and administration; attending team practices, game coverage and events (including travel to away games); injury track and analysis, appointment scheduling, direct oversight of student workers; serving as the clinical mentor to students in training and manages injury prevention programming.

Expertise covering primary sports assignment : Coverage of Track and Field / Cross Country programs.
Preferences : Master's degree from an accredited athletic training educational program or related field.
Physical Demands :
A moderate physical effort and levels of dexterity, including but not limited to :
The ability to stand for long periods of time in all weather conditions.
The ability to move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
The ability to assist injured individuals on / off the playing field / court / surfaces.
The ability to climb, stand, stoop, run, and type.
The ability to work with individuals on various pieces of medical, physical therapy, and / or strength and conditioning equipment; and
The ability to work early mornings, late nights, weekends, extended periods of time without days off, travel, and be on-call as a regular part of the daily job.
Licenses / Certifications : Current National Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers, CPR and AED Certification for healthcare workers by an accredited organization, and current or eligible State of Maryland Athletic Trainer Licensure required.
Minimum Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience : Two (2) years of experience as a certified athletic trainer in a collegiate or professional sports organization.
Other : Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES :
Knowledge of injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service.
