HechtLevi Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in Bioethics (2026-28)

Overview

The Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics invites applications for the Hecht-Levi Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in Bioethics. The program is a two-year fellowship that starts in September 2026. Applicants must defend their dissertation prior to July 1, 2026. The application deadline is Monday, December 1, 2025.

The Hecht-Levi Fellowship is a two-year program of study and experiential learning in bioethics administered by the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics. The fellowship aims to launch the careers of the next generation of bioethics scholars by providing a substantial amount of protected time for research and publication.

Responsibilities and Activities

• Participate in weekly seminars and discussions with bioethics scholars
• Pursue individual scholarship in bioethics
• Engage in teaching and, as appropriate to experience, serve as course director, co-director, or TA
• Design an individualized program tailored to the fellow's goals, interests, and background
• Collaborate with Johns Hopkins faculty on bioethics research projects
• Participate in the Berman Institute's outreach efforts via social media
