As we continue to grow, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Development Engineer to join our dynamic team. As an experienced Development Engineer at Radial Power, you will play a crucial role in the planning, design and execution of C&I solar projects. You will bridge the gap between Project development, Engineering, Supply Chain and Construction teams to ensure Regulatory, Project timeline and budgetary compliance. This role is ideal for an experienced Development Engineer with a background in coordinating and reviewing multi-disciplinary engineering activities.
Requirements : Job Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support during the development phase of commercial and industrial solar projects.
- Conduct technical due diligence on prospective sites, including evaluating interconnection options, site constraints, and constructability considerations.
- Develop preliminary designs and layouts (electrical, structural, civil, and mechanical) to ensure projects are technically feasible and compliant with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures.
- Collaborate closely with developers to optimize project design, cost, and performance assumptions.
- Prepare and review engineering drawing packages, site layouts, and single-line diagrams for internal evaluation and external submissions.
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, suppliers, consultants, utilities, and permitting authorities to address technical requirements and maintain project timelines.
- Support the utility interconnection process, including application preparation, engineering exhibits, and coordination with utility engineers.
- Assist in the preparation of RFPs, bid evaluations, and contractor / vendor selection by providing technical input and review.
- Review vendor equipment specifications and ensure alignment with project needs and industry standards.
- Participate in site visits as needed to assess conditions, validate design assumptions, and identify potential risks.
- Support handoff of development projects into construction, ensuring all technical requirements and documentation are clearly defined and accurate.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), engineering guidelines, and equipment libraries.
Qualifications
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field.Experience : 3–6 years of experience in engineering roles supporting distributed generation or utility-scale renewable energy development.Familiarity with AutoCAD, SketchUp, and solar design software (e.g., Helioscope, PVsyst) is a plus.Ability to optimize solar designs, perform shading and production analyses, and integrate site assessment findings into development decisions.Knowledge of NEC, ASCE codes, and relevant industry standards.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced development environment.Demonstrated initiative with a strong desire to contribute to and grow within the organization.Physical Requirements
Travel to project sites (occasionally in remote areas) for assessments, site walks, and stakeholder meetings.Conduct fieldwork including walking project sites, taking measurements, and evaluating site conditions.Perform standard office activities including extensive computer work, document review, and virtual collaboration.
