The GIST

Our Ruby Developer will leverage a deep understanding of Ruby and related frameworks to design, build, and maintain high-quality applications in a collaborative Agile / DevSecOps environment. You'll work with a team of software engineers, test automation engineers, designers, and product owners to bring conceptual solutions to life while balancing prioritization, risk management, and scope. This role involves developing new functionality for product releases, integrating across various application teams and technology stacks, and ensuring all solutions align with human-centered design principles and co-created user experiences.

What Your Day Might Include...

  • Collaborating with software engineers, designers, and product owners to translate user needs and concepts into functional Ruby applications.
  • Writing clean, efficient, and maintainable Ruby code while adhering to Agile and DevSecOps best practices.
  • Developing and enhancing product features to support new releases and improve overall system functionality.
  • Conducting code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning to ensure high-quality and reliable software delivery.
  • Partnering with test automation engineers to validate new functionality and maintain continuous integration pipelines.
  • Engaging with cross-functional teams to align on priorities, manage risks, and define technical scope for upcoming sprints.
  • Applying human-centered design principles to create intuitive, accessible, and user-focused experiences.
  • Supporting multiple technology stacks and application teams to deliver innovative, secure, and scalable client solutions.
  • Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Active DHS Public Trust clearance is highly preferred.
  • At least 3 year of relevant software development experience, ideally working with Ruby on Rails and related frameworks.
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.).
  • Experience with modern front-end frameworks
  • Experience with containerization (Docker), or infrastructure as code (Terraform, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of Agile and DevSecOps methodologies, with hands-on experience collaborating in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to delivering human-centered, secure, and scalable solutions that align with client needs and organizational goals.
