Your journey will begin with structured assignments aimed at preparing you to assess risks at large commercial properties. You'll visit client facilities to perform evaluations that assist in reducing operational risks in their businesses and properties.
Your role will include performing hands-on site assessments of various physical properties, including rooftops. You'll evaluate crucial aspects such as site water supplies, dust hazards, chemical storage, and the arrangement of client product storage.
As a Consultant Engineer, you will be encouraged to adhere to FM Engineering Standards and clearly communicate your recommendations and solutions to clients, ensuring their understanding. Strong communication, listening, and relationship-building skills are essential.
This position requires you to work from a home office while traveling to client facilities daily; expect around 30% of overnight travel, including potential visits to Natural Catastrophe sites as needed.
Based on your previous experience, you may qualify for either the Entry-Level Consultant Engineer or the more advanced Consultant Engineer II position. Successful candidates typically meet the following qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in engineering or fire protection.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Efficient time management abilities and the capability to work independently.
Proven technical aptitude with a diverse foundation in engineering principles.
Valid driver's license.
Physical ability to climb commercial ladders (e.g., inspecting roofs), lift over 25 lbs., and some clients require working in confined spaces.
Proficient in MS Office products.
You will be expected to work independently, with a willingness to operate from your home office and regularly travel to client sites.
