Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position in a Level I Trauma Center, requiring critical care skills and a MO or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Work in a hospital-based PACU and interventional radiology pre / post area within a Level I Trauma CenterPatient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric patientsRecover surgical patients from specialties such as neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, trauma, and transplant (excluding open heart and liver transplant)Unit features 38 patient bays with an average daily census of 70-90Shifts are four 10-hour days (Monday–Friday) with rotating start times and no weekends or callFloats are required within PACU and pre-op units as needed to meet facility needsEpic EMR is used in the unit, and experience is requiredCare for high-acuity post-operative patients, including those with artificial airways, invasive monitoring, and vasoactive infusionsNo requirement to recover open heart surgeries or liver transplantsUnit supported by its own PCT and transport teamHospital is a Magnet-recognized, teaching facilityNavy blue scrubs are requiredParking is available for a feeNo more than 7 days of requested time off (RTO) are permitted during the 13-week contract; no RTO allowed in the first week of orientationPermanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as travelersEligible travelers can stay up to 18 months before a required 3-month breakRequirements
Active MO or compact RN license required at time of considerationA minimum of 2 years of recent PACU or critical care RN experience requiredCertifications required : BLS and ACLSExperience in a Level I Trauma Center, Phase I PACU, and inpatient settings necessaryProficiency in dysrhythmia recognition / management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, starting IVs, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, and care of ventilated patientsEpic EMR experience requiredApplicants must live at least 75 miles from the facilityFirst-time travelers will be consideredBenefits
