Overview
Freshfields is seeking a Knowledge Lawyer to join our US Tax team. Freshfields is an elite global law firm with over 2,800 legal professionals around the world. Our fast-growing US practice covers the spectrum of commercial law from offices in New York, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Washington DC, Boston and Raleigh. Our global tax team offers practical advice on issues ranging from cross-border and domestic public and private M&A transactions, international group structuring, leveraged finance, equity and debt capital markets, private capital investments, secondaries and fund manager / formation transactions, tax disputes, and tax policy and compliance advice. Our US team is led by four partners and is predominantly engaged in supporting our US and global transactions teams on transactional matters and private funds.
Role summary / purpose of job
This is a strategic role for an experienced tax attorney accustomed to advising on a wide range of US and international tax issues in the context of M&A, finance, capital markets, fund formation and corporate reorganizations. The successful candidate will leverage their deep technical expertise to develop and manage high-value knowledge resources, support business development, and drive innovation across the US tax practice.

For individuals assigned and / or hired to work in New York and California, Freshfields is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the States of New York and California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $300,000 to $350,000.
