Director, Events
The Director, Events is a member of the Advancement team at Chicago Booth and is responsible for driving the strategic direction of engagement, fundraising, and stewardship events including the planning, execution, and evaluation. The Director works across the Booth Advancement team, as well as partner teams at Booth and within the broader University, to execute events that align with Booth's market plans, vision, and annual goals. Managing three full-time staff, the Director is responsible for team development and direction. This position is based in Chicago and requires work in the evenings and on weekends as well as domestic and international travel.
Responsibilities include :
- Responsible for the strategy, planning, execution, and evaluation of all Chicago Booth Advancement-driven events.
- Working with partners on the Alumni Engagement, Individual Giving, and Annual Fund teams, serves as the lead strategist for global events, aligning with the department's market plans, vision, and goals.
- Working with partners across Chicago Booth, University Advancement, and the University at large, serves as the lead representative for Booth Advancement-driven events.
- Oversees the execution of strategic plans, policies, and procedures for Booth Advancement events. Set standards for event types, service levels, and measurable engagement.
- Manages three full-time staff members as the lead of the Advancement Global Events team, providing direction and coaching while working closely as a hands-on member of the team.
- Manages multiple event budgets and tracks event-related expenses and revenues.
- Manages the planning and execution of logistics (e.g., facility selection, menu planning, transportation arrangements, and audio / visual equipment) for organization meetings and special events. Manages high-level events. Manages events staff.
- Develops and manages events budgets. Reviews post event feedback and analyses and determines actions to improve the success of future events.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum qualifications include a college or university degree in a related field and 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree, experience in event planning and management, managing a team, managing budgets, and background working in higher education, specifically advancement or alumni relations.
