About The Position

Job Title : Clinical Lab Scientist

Profession : Laboratory

Experience : Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

License : Licensed Clinical Lab Scientist

Certifications : Relevant certifications required

Must-Have :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma
  • Demonstrated competency in routine specimen collection, preparation, and testing applications
  • Ability to accurately and reliably perform job duties

Description :

Performs procedures to complete test order entry, specimen collection, and specimen processing / handling.

Performs analyses of biological specimens using automated and manual test methods of waived moderate or high complexity.

Produces test results necessary for the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and prevention of disease.

Performs post-analytic procedures, including interpretation, releasing, and reporting results.

Amends or corrects results, responds to inquiries, and manages specimen storage and retrieval.

Recognizes when patient results require additional action prior to reporting, taking action appropriately.

Calibrates and adjusts laboratory equipment according to requirements and manufacturer guidelines.

Provides regular preventive maintenance of analytical equipment and performs minor adjustments and repairs.

Maintains a safe and orderly work area, ensuring inventory management and quality control.

Conducts proficiency testing, record keeping, privacy, security, and confidentiality measures.

Recognizes when test systems are not functioning within control limits and takes appropriate action.

Maintains up-to-date operational information and job knowledge.

Effectively applies information and critical thinking to make sound decisions and solve problems.

Completes competency assessment activities as assigned.

Contributes to the satisfaction of internal and external customers by resolving inquiries and complaints.

If assigned to the Transfusion Service, manages blood product inventory and performs relevant procedures.

Adheres to applicable laws, regulations, accreditation standards, policies, processes, and procedures.

Demonstrated sound judgment and problem-solving relevant to assigned duties.

Ability to interact compassionately and effectively with patients of diverse ages and backgrounds.

Organizes and prioritizes job duties and assigned tasks for completion within expected timeframes.

Knowledge of applicable regulations and policies aimed at ensuring the privacy and safety of patients.

Ability to appropriately respond to fluctuations in volume and unexpected situations or problems.
