Job description

An EPC company is seeking a skilled and motivated Project Manager to join a team of 20 engineers, PM’s & designers to help lead and support small scale capital projects at the OxyChem facility in Convent, LA. This role is ideal for a Project Manager who comes from an electrical or mechanical background and has a strong background in industrial project execution, who thrives in a fast-paced, safety-focused chemical manufacturing environment. They will be working with other engineering firms to manage small in-house projects around the plant.

Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop and manage small to mid-sized capital projects, including maintenance replacements and facility upgrades, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.

Scope, Schedule & Budget Management

  • Define project scope, develop detailed schedules, and manage budgets. Prepare and submit Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) documentation.

    • Engineering Coordination

  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external contractors.

    • Procurement & Construction Oversight

  • Prepare bid packages, evaluate vendor proposals, and oversee procurement of materials and equipment. Supervise construction activities and ensure seamless turnover to operations.

    • Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all projects adhere to OxyChem's safety standards, Process Safety Management (PSM), and Management of Change (MOC) protocols. Maintain environmental and regulatory compliance throughout project lifecycle.

    • Must Have’s :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical Degree).
  • 5-15 years of experience in industrial or chemical plant as a project manager
  • Strong understanding of capital project development, cost estimation, and project controls.
  • General understand of engineering drawings
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with AFE processes and construction management practices.
