Work Location

  • Citizenship Requirements : Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Clearance Requirements : National Background Check with Inquiries and Fingerprints, and
  • Drug Screen.
  • Period of Performance : 04 January 2026 13 January 2031.
  • Employment Type : As Required, not to exceed 100 hours per year.
  • Estimated Pay : $44.00 - $46.00 per hour.

Working Hours

The Research Participants will perform tasks during the Government's primary operational hours, Monday through Friday, 6 : 00 AM through 6 : 00 PM. Regular office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM. Telework may be authorized with coordination with the COR and approved by the Contracting Officer (CO).

Engineering Technician

Summary of Duties

The Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) is the medical certification, education, research, and occupational medicine arm of the Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM) under the auspices of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Office of Aviation Safety (AVS). The Aerospace Medical Research Division of CAMI (AAM-600) is located at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) in Oklahoma City, OK.

The Aerospace Medical Research Division accomplishes the following core functions in support of the FAAs aviation safety mission. The Research Participants will support the Institutional Review Board of the Civil Aerospace Medical Institute in administering and maintaining the servers, software, and networks that comprise the local knowledge management system. The role also involves assisting in monitoring system security, updating and installing security patches and software as necessary, and responding to periodic system security assessments.

Qualifications

  • Generally representative of the flying public
  • Currently qualified commercial or private pilot or cabin crew.
  • Specific medical conditions relevant to the research protocol.
  • Attire

    Research Participants are expected to wear professional clothing while on duty.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evacuation from an airplane cabin simulator using ramps or slides
  • Using aviation-specific breathing apparatus.
  • Interacting with passenger information systems.
  • Performing tasks in an altitude (hypobaric) chamber.
  • Interacting with aircraft evacuation flotation equipment.
