The Occupational Therapist assists in compiling reports and data. The therapist evaluates, assesses, plans treatment, provides splinting, and delivers occupational therapy services to ensure positive patient outcomes. Effective communication and ability to motivate and teach patients and families are essential. The therapist works under time constraints, maintaining accuracy in patient care. Constant contact with patients and families requires strong interpersonal skills. Collaboration with medical staff, department managers, and nursing personnel is essential. The role includes working with various patient populations, including orthopedic and surgical patients. The therapist manages a patient load of 8 to 12 patients per day, completing documentation using computerized systems. Day shifts include 6 hours of direct patient care and 2 hours for follow-up documentation and communication with staff. Teamwork is crucial, with therapists scheduled to collaborate within the gym area and assisting in specialized care areas. A minimum of 2 therapists are scheduled per shift, ensuring adequate support for patient needs. All therapists assist in various departments as needed to provide comprehensive care.
