JOB TYPE : Full-Time

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : This is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all-inclusive of every task or responsibility.

  • Teach various subjects for Elementary Students
  • Able to work with students in an elementary / middle school level placement
  • Works cooperatively with all staff and parents
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
  • Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's mission statement.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
  • Establish and maintain open basis of communication with students, parents, staff and administration.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

You have :

  • A bachelor’s degree;
  • Two or more years of teaching experience in an urban setting;
  • A clear understanding of standards-based curriculum and standards-based assessment;
  • An ability to build a positive and supportive classroom culture;
  • Used models and exemplars to drive instruction; and
  • Strong collaboration skills in order to ensure student success.

    • You might also have :

  • A Washington, D.C. teaching certification;
  • Experience in hands-on learning such as experiential learning or project-based learning;
  • Experience in data-driven instruction;
  • Proficiency in another language; and
  • A master's degree in education or your subject area
