Job Description
A Top 20 ENR Global General Contractor , widely recognized for delivering world-class data center and mission-critical facilities, is seeking an experienced Data Center Estimator to join its expanding preconstruction team. The company is known for high-performance execution on complex, large-scale projects across the U.S. and globally.
Role Overview
The Data Center Estimator will be responsible for producing accurate, detailed estimates for data center construction projects. This position requires strong technical knowledge, the ability to perform precise take-offs, and experience working with preconstruction teams to support all phases of budget development, bidding, and change order analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates for data center and mission-critical projects.
- Perform comprehensive quantity take-offs for electrical, mechanical, architectural, and low-voltage systems.
- Review and analyze drawings, specifications, and RFPs to develop scope and cost assumptions.
- Utilize Bluebeam and PlanSwift for digital take-offs, measurement, and estimate documentation.
- Work closely with engineering, project management, procurement, and subcontractors to gather pricing and validate assumptions.
- Evaluate subcontractor proposals for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project scope.
- Support the development, pricing, and documentation of change orders , including cost analysis and scope verification.
- Identify cost risks, value-engineering opportunities, and alternative design solutions.
- Maintain and update historical cost data, templates, and estimating tools.
- Participate in the preparation of conceptual budgets and early-phase design estimates.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in data center estimating, mission-critical construction, or MEP estimating.Strong knowledge of data center systems, including electrical distribution, cooling / MEP systems, UPS / generation, and structured cabling.Proficiency with Bluebeam , PlanSwift , and other estimating platforms or take-off tools.Ability to interpret detailed construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.Strong analytical and mathematical skills with excellent attention to detail.Effective communication and collaboration skills across multiple teams.Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).Preferred Skills
Experience with hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data center clients.Knowledge of industry standards such as Uptime Institute, TIA-942, and ASHRAE guidelines.Familiarity with design-build, CMAR, and GMP project delivery methods.Location & Travel
Positions available in Dallas, TX and Atlanta, GA .Occasional travel may be required for site walks, meetings, and client engagements.
