Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Construction Project Engineer with experience in healthcare construction to support the successful delivery of hospital, medical office, and clinical facility projects. The Project Engineer will play a critical role in managing project documentation, coordinating with trades, and ensuring compliance with healthcare-specific regulations and standards. This role requires strong communication skills, technical aptitude, and the ability to work in fast-paced, sensitive healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Project Manager and Superintendent with all aspects of healthcare construction projects, from preconstruction through closeout.
Maintain accurate and timely project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, change orders, and procurement logs.
Coordinate with architects, consultants, healthcare owners, and subcontractors to ensure scope and design intent are executed correctly.
Track and manage materials, equipment deliveries, and long-lead items to meet project timelines.
Monitor and enforce compliance with healthcare regulations, codes, and infection control procedures (e.g., ICRA, OSHPD / HCAI where applicable).
Assist with project scheduling and ensure alignment of daily and weekly tasks with overall construction milestones.
Prepare and maintain closeout documents including as-builts, O&M manuals, and warranty packages.
Attend job site meetings and field walks; document progress and follow up on action items.
Ensure safety, cleanliness, and minimal disruption to active healthcare environments.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (required)
2–5 years of experience as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager in healthcare or institutional construction
Strong understanding of healthcare-specific requirements (e.g., ICRA, OSHPD / HCAI, HIPAA considerations, infection control)
Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents
Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and other construction management tools
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
Preferred Skills
Experience working in active hospitals or medical office buildings
Knowledge of MEP coordination specific to healthcare systems (e.g., med gas, HVAC zoning)
Ability to work closely with clinical staff and administration during construction in operational facilities
