Overview :
This role is generally responsible for providing clinical support in a vascular medical office. The Surgical Technologist will collaborate with clinical leadership in the performance of the clinical and patient care aspects of his / her duties, and will always act within scope of practice under the authority of attending surgeon and nursing staff.
This role will report to the Office Manager for operational matters and to clinical leadership for clinical matters.
This role is non-exempt.
Responsibilities :
- Assist in procedure rooms
Assembling surgical packs, supplies and instruments for cases
Preparing procedure rooms for casesMaintaining a sterile fieldAssisting with inventory for procedure roomsProvide technical assistance to physicians and nursesAssists as needed with daily operations of the clinic and office-based lab, includingManaging office telephone, including answering calls and providing 24 hour call backs to all patients as needed
Assisting with scheduling patient appointments and maintaining communication to confirm future appointmentsAssisting with patient referrals and insurance authorization for proceduresMaintaining patient medical information, including medical history and health insuranceMaintaining orders and stocks suppliesCleaning and sterilization of equipmentPrepare exam rooms and assist physicians and other clinical staff as neededMaintains HIPAA guidelinesMaintain compliance databasesRequirements :
Surgical technologist certification or within 6 months of graduation from accredited programBLS certification1+ year experience in a medical setting, ideally surgicalExcellent interpersonal skills and exceptional attention to detailAbility to stand for prolonged periodsAbility to follow oral and written instructions precisely#Portland
