What This Job Involves

Join JLL's facilities team as an Operating Engineer where you'll play a critical role in maintaining optimal building performance and tenant satisfaction. This position combines technical expertise with hands-on problem-solving to ensure our clients' facilities operate at peak efficiency. You'll be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of complex building systems while contributing to JLL's commitment to delivering exceptional real estate services. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge building technologies while developing multi-craft skills in a collaborative environment that values safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like

  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility equipment across all building systems with focus on technical expertise in one craft area (Electrical, HVAC, Piping / Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations)
  • Perform preventative maintenance, monitoring, and repairs to Mechanical, Plumbing, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems to maintain applicable standards
  • Clean, inspect, calibrate, and replace parts on HVAC systems and associated equipment to ensure optimum performance levels
  • Record equipment readings and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation while maintaining accurate documentation
  • Review monthly client service request summaries to identify and correct recurrent operational problems
  • Monitor quality and pricing of maintenance work performed by outside contractors and evaluate vendors for competitive pricing
  • Comply with departmental safety policies for hazardous materials storage, usage, and disposal while maintaining a clean and safe workplace

Required Qualifications

  • Technical expertise and certification in at least one craft area : Electrical, HVAC, Piping / Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations
  • Proven experience in facility equipment operation, maintenance, and repair
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex building systems
  • Knowledge of safety protocols for hazardous materials handling and workplace safety standards
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and equipment specifications
  • Physical ability to perform maintenance tasks including lifting, climbing, and working in various environmental conditions
  • Strong attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and equipment monitoring
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Multi-craft skills across electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Knowledge of building automation systems and control technologies
  • Vendor management and procurement experience
  • Previous experience in commercial real estate or facilities management
  • Professional certifications in relevant trades or building operations
  • Experience with inventory control and purchasing processes
  • Estimated compensation for this position : 72,000.00 - 80,000.00 USD per year. This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
