Job description

The Allegheny Health Network Surgical Institute seeks a full-time Burn Surgeon to join the West Penn Burn Center team, a nationally recognized leader in innovative burn care. As the only burn center in western Pennsylvania verified by the American Burn Association and the American College of Surgeons for both adult and pediatric care, we provide high-quality patient care from injury through rehabilitation.

  • Comfortable family waiting area

Responsibilities :

  • Provide expert medical and surgical care to adult and pediatric burn patients at West Penn Hospital's Burn Center and Allegheny General Hospital (AHN's Level 1 Trauma Center).
  • Perform initial assessments, stabilization, and advanced airway management.
  • Manage complex fluid resuscitation and comprehensive pain control.
  • Perform a full range of surgical procedures, including escharotomy, debridement, skin grafting, flap coverage, and reconstructive surgery.
  • Manage all aspects of burn wound care, including advanced dressing selection, infection control, and scar management.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, therapists, dietitians, and other specialists.
  • Participate in burn research and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in on-call coverage.

    • Qualifications :

  • Completion of an ACGME-approved Burn Surgery Fellowship.
  • Board Eligible / Board Certified in General Surgery.
  • MD or DO degree.
  • Pennsylvania medical license (required prior to employment).
  • Demonstrated expertise in comprehensive burn injury management.
  • Experience in a high-volume burn center, preferably Level I Trauma Center.
  • Experience with pediatric burn care and / or reconstructive surgery preferred.
  • Interest in teaching and mentoring Fellows, Residents, and medical students.
