Event And Recreation Center Manager
The purpose of this position is to promote The Link Event and Recreation Center as a destination for weddings, private events, and corporate meetings and functions. This is accomplished by soliciting and booking corporate and private events; building strong relationships with customers to encourage repeat business; conducting direct sales efforts through bids, targeted sales missions and sales calls; and working with the city's corporate and hotel partners to promote Richland Hills as a destination for regional meetings and events.
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Develops, plans, and implements marketing and sales campaigns to increase public awareness and use of The Link Event and Recreation Center and other city facilities; identifies market opportunities and develops promotional strategies; works with the Communications Specialist on website design, social media campaigns, posters, advertisements, and other media to increase awareness of city facilities and to attract and engage new business and potential clients.
- Conducts direct sales efforts through bids, targeted sales missions and sales calls; leads site tours and books facilities; prepares rental quotes and agreements; maintains records and reports for all clients and leads; attends and participates in trade shows and networking opportunities.
- Develops and nurtures relationships with customers to create a positive and lasting impression that results in repeat business; coordinates promotional activities with other city departments, local hotels and businesses in order to provide the best customer experience; establishes positive relationships with customers and vendors through frequent interaction, attentiveness and timely responses.
- Oversees logistics of rentals at The Link Event and Recreation Center; coordinates with customers, team members and vendors for set up and breakdown requirements, equipment and furniture requests and janitorial services; conducts post event surveys and gathers feedback to ensure events and facilities meet customer expectations.
- Manages the inventory of rental supplies, furniture and equipment, ensuring it is available and in good condition for future events; conducts post event inspections of furniture and equipment for repair or cleaning.
- Assists in the preparation of the annual department operating budget including researching equipment and personnel needs; forecasting funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitoring expenditures; applying and managing department grants; conducting research; and compiling data for division reporting.
- Acts as The Link Event and Recreation Center liaison to the Northeast Tarrant Chamber of Commerce; attends chamber programs and events; builds positive relationships with chamber members and partners.
- Assists with front desk customer service at The Link Event and Recreation Center as needed.
- Coordinates and manages Link and city special events including marketing, planning, logistics, managing vendors, and implementation of the event itself.
- Serves as the Manager on Duty for The Link during early morning, evening, and weekend hours of operation including opening and closing the facility, supervising staff, approving refunds, voiding transactions, and ensuring all operating procedures are adhered to.

License or Certificate : Possession of an appropriate, valid Texas driver's license
Supervision received and exercised : Receives direction and supervision from the Director of Parks and Recreation and Link Manager. Exercises no direct supervision but assists with hiring, training, scheduling and overseeing rental and janitorial staff
Working Conditions :
Environmental Conditions : Work is performed in a normal office environment which is generally sedentary with exposure to computer screens and required frequent phone and personal contact with the public. In addition, there will be some exposure to outside environmental conditions during special events. Flexible work hours involving evenings, weekends and some holidays are required.
Physical Conditions : While performing the essential functions the employee may be required to maintain physical condition necessary for adequate physical performance abilities including standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing, vision, hearing and talking. Position requires light to moderate lifting up to 25 lbs. with occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
