Job Title : Tool and Die Maker

Job Description

The Tool and Die Maker will play a crucial role in supporting manufacturing by overseeing the injection mold process from start to finish and performing all necessary maintenance. The role involves responding to failures, making improvements, and ensuring high-quality toolmaking and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform operations common to the toolmaker trade including creating plastic injection molds and components, conducting mold triage, and repairing tooling.
  • Carry out routine mold maintenance, cleaning, and complete tool changeovers.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance.
  • Utilize tool room machinery such as lathes, mills, and grinders, both manual and CNC.
  • Machine parts and hold tolerances within .0005 inches or tighter where applicable.
  • Maintain a neat and organized personal workspace.
  • Develop specifications from simple and complex blueprints, or hand sketch simple parts on paper.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety requirements, including proper dress attire, safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, and the proper use of cleaning fluids and coolants.
  • Consistently attend work on time and demonstrate responsibility and pride in performing work precisely and correctly.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with CNC machines.
  • Possession of a Tool and Die Journeyman's Card is highly preferred.
  • Hurco CNC experience is required.
  • Basic knowledge of programming CNC mills such as Hurco Win-Max.
  • Ownership of basic tool room tools and a common understanding of micrometers, depth micrometers, and dial calipers.
  • Basic math skills including geometry and trigonometry to calculate angles.
  • Ability to read drawings and calculate dimensions not on drawings.
  • Capability to perform setup for machining.
  • Accountability and adherence to meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to follow directions from the lead.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Injection molding experience is a nice-to-have.
  • Familiarity with programming, grinders, calipers, manual machining, manual mills, and Bridgeport setups.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and working in a machine shop.
  • Ability to move 100 lbs with assistance and lift 50 lbs.
  • Capability to stand for prolonged periods and reach, bend, and stretch with minimal assistance.
  • Basic computer skills.

    Work Environment

    This position operates on a 1st shift, allowing for a flexible 10-hour workday, typically from 7 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm.     Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00 / hr.
