Senior Engineer II – Substation Design to join its engineering team in Reno, Nevada. This role provides comprehensive engineering design services for substation facilities, ensuring timely project completion within allocated budgets. The ideal candidate will lead functional teams, provide technical oversight throughout all project phases, and contribute to the ongoing development of engineering standards and internal training.
Key Responsibilities :
- Substation Design & Oversight (25%) : Independently develop economical, technically sound substation physical and control designs. Lead and manage multiple substation projects, coordinating with external consultants and internal stakeholders.
- Construction Support (25%) : Provide on-site construction support and coordinate with construction teams to ensure project quality and adherence to design standards.
- Procurement Coordination (15%) : Independently manage communication with other departments to facilitate procurement-related tasks.
- Technical Guidance (15%) : Assist and advise other departments on resolving non-standard substation design challenges.
- Budgeting & Cost Estimation (10%) : Deliver accurate cost estimates for budget planning and cash flow forecasting.
- Project Scheduling (10%) : Contribute to the development and maintenance of detailed project schedules and regularly update project management tools.
- Compliance : Ensure full compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and company policies.
Required Skills :
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.With PE License : Minimum 8 years of industry experience as a practicing engineer.Without PE License : Minimum 10 years of industry experience.Certification : Professional Engineer (PE) license highly preferred.Strong expertise in substation / control engineering and general electrical engineering principles.Working knowledge of cost control, budgeting, finance, and technical cost analysis.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team leadership skills.Proficient in project management, problem-solving, decision-making, and multitasking in a dynamic environment.Capable of interfacing with cross-functional teams, vendors, and regulatory agencies effectively.Additional Information :
