Responsibilities Work in a Med / Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital environment Night shift schedule of 4x12 hours from 19 : 00 to 07 : 00 Patient population includes acute respiratory failure, CHF, COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, sepsis, pulmonary fibrosis, and ILD Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 5 : 1 on days / evenings (may stretch higher) and 6-7 : 1 at night (may stretch to 8-10) Special procedures include dysrhythmia management, IV insulin protocols, and pre / post hemodialysis management Equipment used includes BIPAP, CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, chronic ventilators, tracheostomies, and chest tubes Epic EMR preferred and required for first-time US travelers Floating to other units required within scope of practice Call required as needed Every other weekend shift required Block scheduling may be accommodated but is not guaranteed Job duties include managing cardiac drips (no titration), pre / post hemodialysis care, wound care, trach and ventilator management, substance withdrawal, and complex respiratory support Support staff includes PCTs for vital signs, glucose checks, EKGs, and daily living activities, as well as an in-house phlebotomy team for lab draws Nurses are responsible for PICC and central line management Rapid response team is available for emergencies Orientation includes pre-start modules and a combination of classroom and unit-based instruction Navy blue or white scrubs required Return staff policy requires a 1-year gap between assignments Requested time off should be limited to approximately one week No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius Requirements Active NY RN license required at time of consideration Current BLS certification required Minimum of 1 year of recent Med / Surg Telemetry nursing experience required Experience managing cardiac dysrhythmias, central and peripheral lines, IV insulin and heparin protocols, and advanced airway management techniques Epic EMR experience required for first-time US travelers and preferred for all candidates Ability to manage rapid response activation and provide advanced care for complex medical diagnoses Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility First-time travelers are accepted Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-627845.
