Journeyman Sheet Metal Mechanic
Location : Commercial Construction Sites – Travel as Needed
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our mechanical construction team. This role focuses on fabricating, assembling, and installing HVAC and mechanical systems on commercial and industrial projects. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or mentoring apprentices.
Pay : $30 - $38 / hr DOE
Key Responsibilities
- Install HVAC systems including round pipe, spiral duct, flex duct, dampers, air devices, louvers, and air-moving equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and shop drawings to assemble and install ductwork.
- Fabricate or modify sheet metal components using shears, brakes, punches, drills, snips, and other tools.
- Install hangers, dampers, hardware, and duct connections; secure seams with rivets, bolts, caulk, or fasteners.
- Drill and punch holes for fasteners and branch duct connections.
- Operate lifts, hoists, and duct jacks safely to perform work at heights.
- Assist with special projects and provide guidance to apprentices as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of HVAC / mechanical trade experience on commercial or industrial projects.Valid / current Journeyman License required.OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred.Skilled with fabrication and installation tools.Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., stand, bend, squat, and work at heights.Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.Valid driver’s license, clean MVR, and ability to pass drug and background screenings.Willingness to travel for projects as needed.Benefits
