Research Consultant
DFL Caucus
We are seeking a full-time Research Consultant for the DFL Caucus in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
Responsibilities include working with House committees, individual DFL legislators and legislative staff to summarize legislation, draft amendments, track bills, staff committee hearings, and prepare policy memos. Must also maintain communication with DFL legislators, appropriate DFL staff and other relevant stakeholders. Committee assignments are not final but could include House committees for Elections & Government Operations as well as State Government Finance.
We prefer someone who 1) is familiar with the work of the Legislature and the demands of the legislative session, 2) has a strong interest in working on policy issues for the House DFL Caucus, 3) has demonstrated ability to provide research and analysis; (4) has excellent written and oral communication skills; and 5) has a masters or law degree or equivalent experience in a pertinent field. Must have the ability to work long and irregular hours (including evenings and weekends) during the legislative session.
This is a full-time, at-will position that works in person with the possibility of some interim remote work consistent with House policies and department needs. The House offers a competitive salary and opportunities for ongoing professional development. Starting classification and annual salary commensurate with relevant experience. Research Consultant I - III range $67,993.44 - $149,436.00. The starting salary range for an entry-level Research Consultant I is generally between $67,993.44 and $74,792.88, depending on relevant experience.
