Responsibilities
Job Purpose
Pattern Energy is seeking to add a Senior Power Trader to its growing Energy Management business. The position will be directly involved in daily and term trading positions to optimize and create revenue for Pattern's fleet of operating wind farms and market exposures.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a lead trader in one of our larger books of business, contributing to and managing profit & loss. The position would manage multiple tenors and products within our portfolio while managing risk within stated company tolerances.
- Coordinate and communicate with various internal groups on trading positions and results while serving as a subject matter expert to the company around market dynamics.
- Work with bilateral counterparties on potential structures to enhance and grow management of market exposures.
Qualifications
Experience / Qualifications / Education Required
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance or related discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant trading experience, preferably in ERCOT or CAISO ISOs and exchanges.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the dynamics of wholesale electricity markets.
- Demonstrate risk appropriate decision-making abilities under tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated worker who strives for positive gross-margin results for the company.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to express ideas effectively and fluently.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment where teamwork and independent work ethic are essential.
