Description :
The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse.
The nurse provides safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research.
This care is provided to a designated group of patients and significant others.
Patient care includes the incorporation of the tenets of the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care.
The nurse applies the nursing process based on theory, research, and evidence-based practice.
Assessments and evaluations of patient care needs are conducted carefully.
Critical thinking skills are applied in patient care management.
Relevant assessment and intervention skills are integrated into the delivery of nursing care.
Collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team is essential in developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care.
All aspects of patient care, including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning, are prioritized.
Patient and caregiver education is provided, anticipating their needs and readiness to learn.
Communication with patients, family, and all members of the care team must be effective and professional.
Assignments are managed within a Care Delivery Model.
The nurse role models the tenets of Relationship Centered Care.
This includes actions such as Admission Welcome, Bedside shift Report, and purposeful hourly rounding.
The nurse considers the patient's values, preferences, cultural diversity, and expressed needs in all care aspects.
A therapeutic relationship with the patient and family is established and maintained.
Evidence-based practices are used to enhance the understanding of patient perceptions of care.
Service recovery for patients and families with concerns is initiated as needed.
Caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening are demonstrated through dialogue and actions.
Quality and safety practices are a high priority, with attention to identifying barriers and opportunities for improvement.
Clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety are practiced.
The nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on quality improvement projects and research studies.
The utilization of information technology for documentation to support quality improvement initiatives is essential.
In operational duties, the nurse performs charge nurse responsibilities as assigned.
Coordination with clinical leadership ensures that supplies are appropriately utilized and inventory is sufficient.
Resource deficits must be escalated promptly.
Accurate and thorough documentation is required to meet regulatory and legal standards.
The nurse facilitates patient throughput.
In professional development, contributions to the care environment are emphasized.
