Job description

Join our dynamic team at AWS Infrastructure Services, where we drive the design, planning, and operation of AWS global infrastructure. We take pride in ensuring our cloud services remain dependable, offering innovative solutions for our customers' needs.

We are expanding our Network and Cable Decommission (NCD) team and seeking a highly motivated Decommissioning Technician with a solid understanding of network and infrastructure implementation. This role will involve collaboration with project management, network engineers, and operations teams to ensure efficient project execution and outstanding service delivery.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Adhere to safety and security best practices within the data center.
  • Physically decommission network racks and equipment according to internal service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Manage tasks and priorities through our ticketing system and workflows.
  • Coordinate work activities with other data center personnel.
  • Identify and suggest improvements for operational efficiency.
  • Participate in team meetings to share project status and metrics.

Problem Solving :

  • Maintain network availability by proactively analyzing activities and addressing issues.
  • Escalate complex situations to senior technicians and management as necessary.
  • Mentoring :

  • Educate and assist less experienced staff in service ownership best practices.
  • Support onboarding of new technicians by leading training sessions.
  • Hiring Contributions :

  • Participate in the Amazon hiring process by engaging in candidate interviews.
  • Essential Qualifications :

  • Understanding of data center network equipment (routers, switches, PDUs, UPS).
  • Experience with data center cabling (fiber optics, copper, cable management).
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in cabling and network equipment.
  • Experience managing workload via ticketing systems for at least 2 years.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • In-depth knowledge of data center network and cabling best practices.
  • Advanced expertise in fiber optic and copper cabling standards.
  • More than 5 years of cabling experience in a production environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting connectivity issues in cabling infrastructure.
  • Experience in a lead technician role for at least 2 years.

    This position may require travel within your geographical area, and up to 25% travel outside of your primary region may be necessary.

    The base pay for this role ranges from $55,900 to $125,100 annually, based on various factors like market location and experience level.
