Job Summary :
The MuleSoft Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level integration solutions using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform. The architect ensures seamless integration of healthcare applications, systems, and data sources to support clinical, administrative, and operational processes while maintaining compliance with healthcare data standards (such as HL7, FHIR, HIPAA).
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture & Design : Design and implement scalable, secure, and reusable MuleSoft integration solutions. Define and enforce API-led connectivity architecture, including Experience, Process, and System APIs. Create integration blueprints aligning with enterprise architecture standards. Translate healthcare business and data requirements into technical integration solutions.
- Development & Implementation : Lead the development of MuleSoft flows, APIs, connectors, and integrations. Develop healthcare-specific integrations (e.g., EHR / EMR, claims systems, patient data platforms, etc.). Ensure performance, scalability, and reliability of MuleSoft applications. Oversee deployment using CI / CD pipelines, CloudHub, Runtime Fabric, or on-prem environments.
- Governance & Standards : Define and enforce MuleSoft best practices, coding standards, and API lifecycle management. Establish API governance frameworks to ensure data quality, security, and compliance. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, FHIR, HL7, and other healthcare interoperability standards.
- Collaboration & Leadership : Work closely with cross-functional teams - developers, data engineers, business analysts, and product owners. Collaborate with EHR vendors and healthcare data teams to design compliant interfaces. Mentor and guide MuleSoft developers and junior integration engineers. Engage stakeholders to translate complex healthcare workflows into integration solutions.
- Support & Optimization : Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize existing MuleSoft integrations and APIs. Conduct performance tuning and scalability assessments. Prepare detailed technical documentation, diagrams, and operational handbooks. Participate in change management and production support activities.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills : 8+ years of IT experience with at least 4+ years in integration architecture / design. 3+ years of hands-on experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (CloudHub, Runtime Fabric, API Manager). Expertise in API-led connectivity and microservices architecture. Strong understanding of healthcare integration standards - FHIR, HL7 v2 / v3, CDA, X12, EDI. Experience with EHR / EMR integrations (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Allscripts, Meditech). Solid understanding of security protocols - OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, TLS, etc. Familiarity with DevOps tools (Jenkins, Git, Maven, Ansible) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform). Proficiency in DataWeave, RAML, JSON, XML, and SOAP / REST APIs.
