Job Title : Substation Engineer
Job Description
This position falls within the substation department, where you will work on projects supporting utility customers with minimal direction. You will collaborate with both in-house and client engineers and designers, providing training and guidance to lower-level engineers.
Responsibilities
Develop project scopes, one-line diagrams, and estimates for substation projects.
Review substation construction drawings and verify compliance with codes and standards.
Engineer and design lightning protection, grounding, and equipment replacement and repair for substations.
Make necessary changes and corrections to drawings and documentation.
Verify the proper use of equipment and material according to project documentation standards and codes.
Ensure timely ordering and delivery of materials and equipment for substation construction.
Travel to project sites for walk downs and gather information to develop project requirements.
Function as a project lead for substation projects.
Coordinate work activities within the department to complete substation projects.
Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees.
Initiate corrective action when project objectives are not being met.
Work under the supervision of higher-level engineers.
Occasional site visits are required.
Essential Skills
Five to eight years of experience in utilities working with substations.
Five to eight years of experience completing engineering projects from start to finish.
Five to eight years of experience scoping, estimating, and ordering materials for substations.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
A PE License is required.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $65.00 / hr.
