Auto Mechanic

Description

This position is responsible for the upkeep, preventive maintenance, and repair of the Universitys fleet of vehicles. The role also supports the Maintenance Department by assisting with day-to-day work orders and operational needs.

Examples of Duties

• Review and analyze work orders, plan tasks, and determine required resources.
• Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to procure necessary parts and accessories for repairs.
• Perform routine service and preventive maintenance on University vehicles, including :
• Lubrication and chassis service
• Fluid level checks and top-offs
• Oil and filter changes with oil life monitor reset
• Filter inspections and replacements
• Tire rotations, pressure adjustments, and TPMS sensor relearning
• Diagnose and repair vehicles to factory specifications using appropriate tools (supplied by the technician).
• Accurately complete work orders, documenting all repairs, parts used, and time required.
• Communicate progress and schedule tasks with the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Review completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
• Follow University policies and safety procedures while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Maintain current ASE training and certifications.
• Assist with snow removal and grounds work as needed.
• Participate in the departments on-call rotation.
