Description
AP Professionals has partnered with a local manufacturer who has been in business for decades and is in search of a Logistics Supervisor. The Logistics Supervisor will manage the order-to-delivery process, optimizing drivers and trucks to maximize productivity and ensure efficient customer service. Leading a team of Dispatch Specialists and CDL A Drivers, this role requires independent judgment to comply with company, federal, and state regulations. Prior experience dealing with CDL A Drivers as well as supervising is required.
This position is a full-time, direct hire position that requires onsite work.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily routing and scheduling of all deliveries.
- Supervise the daily responsibilities and functions of Dispatch Specialists and CDL A Drivers.
- Review data, verify hours of service, and ensure payroll entries comply with Federal, State, and FMCSA regulations.
- Analyze metrics, communicate performance results, and provide coaching based on outcomes.
- Prioritize safety and hold employees accountable for safe operations.
- Work with the Safety Department to enforce company policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with Human Resources and the dispatch team to maintain compliant driver files; schedule drug tests and medical certificate renewals as needed.
- Manage equipment availability and assign drivers and trucks as needed.
- Direct Dispatch Specialists to maintain regular contact with drivers and manage emergency responses.
- Ensure maximum productivity by optimizing routes and making cost-effective decisions.
- Engage third-party carriers as needed and ensure they meet delivery and customer service expectations.
- Proactively identify and resolve potential delivery and service issues before they cause interruptions.
- Communicate with maintenance personnel and serve as an emergency contact for mechanical downtime and other issues.
- Oversee the daily workflow of assigned drivers.
- Supervise the training programs for new hires to ensure they gain accurate and adequate operational knowledge.
- Manage time off scheduling and usage for Dispatch Specialists and Drivers.
- Assist in preparing and distributing disciplinary action documentation in accordance with company policy, in coordination with Human Resources and the Logistics Manager.
Education
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Transportation or Logistics, or equivalent job-related experience preferred.Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics / transportation and people management or a related field.Prior experience with CDL A DriversMust hold a high degree of customer serviceKnowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
