Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Michigan or compact state)

BLS Certification (required before first shift)

ACLS Certification (required before first shift)

2 years of recent Med / Surg bedside clinical experience highly desired

Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments for all patients within 8 hours of admission

Develop and implement individualized care plans with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team

Deliver direct patient care utilizing the nursing process : assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation

Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record

Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and discharge planning from admission

Communicate changes in patient status to the clinical care team to ensure safety and continuity

Supervise and mentor Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and new staff

Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff, following hospital safety policies and procedures

Support team building and a collaborative work environment within the Med / Surg unit

Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education for nursing excellence
