Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking an RN Trauma Step-Down / PCU for a top Healthcare client.
This high-acuity position delivers critical care monitoring and specialized nursing interventions for patients requiring an intermediate level of care, particularly those recovering from trauma. The role demands advanced clinical assessment skills, precise documentation, and the ability to stabilize and manage complex patients who are at risk of deterioration, operating in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct, specialized nursing care to an assigned patient population in the Step-Down / PCU, focusing on post-trauma recovery and complex medical cases.
- Conduct frequent and detailed physical assessments, proactively identifying subtle changes in patient status and escalating critical findings immediately.
- Monitor and manage complex physiological devices and advanced intravenous therapies typical of a Progressive Care Unit environment.
- Implement and evaluate individualized care plans using advanced critical thinking and decisive judgment to prevent patient deterioration.
- Collaborate effectively with trauma surgeons, intensivists, and the rapid response team to stabilize and manage high-risk patients.
- Prepare patients for potential transfer to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and participate in cross-training to support ICU needs.
- Maintain accurate, concise, and timely documentation of all assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in the electronic health record (EHR).
Requirements
Education
Nursing Diploma or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) is required.Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.Experience
Minimum of one (1) year of recent RN experience in an acute care setting is required.Prior experience in a Step-Down, PCU, or high-acuity setting is highly preferred.Candidates from LTACH, Home Health, and Rehabilitation settings will be considered for relevant clinical experience.Certifications / Licenses
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida or a compact state is required.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross) is required.Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is preferred; required within six (6) months of hire.Skills
Demonstrated expertise in advanced critical thinking and decisive judgment within high-stress scenarios.Strong ability to function with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.Physical ability to perform work requiring frequent standing, bending, and lifting of patients and / or equipment up to 50 pounds.Benefits
