Southeastern Rheumatology Alliance is seeking a skilled, compassionate Phlebotomist to join our rheumatology medical office laboratory team at our Gainesville, GA location. This role performs venipuncture, specimen processing, and point-of-care testing to support patients with autoimmune and musculoskeletal conditions. The Phlebotomist will ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered laboratory services within our outpatient clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities :
Phlebotomy & Patient Care
- Perform venipuncture, capillary draws, and specimen collection following clinical protocols
- Verify patient identity, lab orders, and insurance information
- Label, prepare, centrifuge, and process specimens for in-house or reference labs
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions, particularly those who are immunocompromised or have mobility limitations
- Provide compassionate support to patients experiencing chronic pain or fatigue
Laboratory Operations
Perform waived lab testing (e.g., ESR, CRP, urinalysis)Maintain accurate records and input data into the EMRMaintain lab cleanliness, organization, and supply inventoryPrepare specimens for courier pick-up and ensure proper chain-of-custodyFollow all OSHA, CLIA, and infection-control standardsQualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent requiredCompletion of accredited phlebotomy training program; certification preferred (CPT, RPT, or equivalent)Prior experience in medical office or specialty practice preferredFamiliarity with autoimmune or rheumatology patient needs a plusKnowledge of specimen handling, lab safety, and quality controlBasic EMR and computer skillsCPR certification preferredSkills & Competencies :
