Border Patrol Agent
The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) within the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring immediately for full-time, entry-level career Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) opportunities. Salary and benefits include an annual base salary ranging from $49,739 to $89,518 per year, with potential for additional pay based on duty location and experience. This is a career ladder position with a grade level progression of GL-5, GL-7, GL-9, GS-11, and GS-12.
As a Border Patrol Agent (BPA), you will be part of a team that strives to protect the American people by safeguarding our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing the nations economic prosperity. Typical assignments include detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and custom laws, preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers, patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways, and performing various checks and patrols.
Qualifications for the GL-5 grade level include one year of general work experience or a bachelors degree. For the GL-7 grade level, one year of specialized work experience or a bachelors degree with superior academic achievement is required. Other requirements include U.S. citizenship, primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years, and an age restriction of before reaching the 40th birthday unless eligible for veterans preference.
