Network Engineer, R&D Environments
Meta's Network and Infrastructure Services (NIS) team is actively looking for a network engineer to help us build out infrastructure which gives people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. Our team is responsible for network design, deployment, and operations for Meta's global engineering labs where we support multiple engineering teams. With the importance of rapidly maturing new technologies like the GenAI, we have entered in a new era of unprecedented opportunities to re-think traditional networking and iterate quickly in our environment. Responsibilities
- Actively contribute to the ongoing evolution of the standard network architecture. Collaborate with team members to design and implement network solutions, considering scalability and operability
- Serve as the Tier 3 point of escalation for addressing complex operational and field issues. Utilize hands-on expertise to troubleshoot and resolve networking issues in real-time
- Work closely with team members from various disciplines, fostering effective communication and collaboration. Contribute to cross-disciplinary projects, aligning technical solutions with team goals
- Participate in projects with a global impact, influencing the functionality and reliability of various products and services. Collaborate with teams across geographical locations to ensure successful project outcomes
- Provide mentorship to team members, sharing expertise and guiding their professional growth
- Actively engage with leads in the team to foster partnerships. Collaborate with external partners and teams, contributing to successful partnerships and initiatives
- Embrace the "operations first", focusing on scalability and efficiency in network solutions. Contribute to scaling solutions from zero to one and one to many, ensuring operability at scale
- Innovate and adapt to meet evolving challenges in R&D environments. Proactively address complex issues through creative problem-solving approaches
- Work cross-functionally with partners, project managers, network, software, and hardware engineers to validate equipment, software, and develop network solutions to meet test needs. Expect to travel ~10% of the time to cultivate these partnerships
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience7+ years of experience in multiple technology disciplines with extensive experience in Network infrastructure, Vendor and Workflow ManagementExperience with data center design, structured cabling, and fiber optic network infrastructureDemonstrated knowledge of TCP, IPv4 / 6, Routing Protocols, and related network services (DHCP, DNS)Experience with implementing tooling and automation for network configuration and monitoringTrack record of solving complex problems, executing tactically, and delivering on infrastructure projectsPreferred Qualifications
Experience in a coding / scripting languages such as Python, shell scripting etc. along with knowledge in code repository solutionsExperience evaluating and testing new vendor platforms and in house network initiativesFor those who live in or expect to work from California if hired for this position, please click here for additional information.
$161,000 / year to $225,000 / year + bonus + equity + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
