Job description

Purpose within the Organization :

The purpose of this position is to assist GCU Fitness under the department of Campus Recreation in leading weekly fitness classes for the GCU community. This position will also include working at weekly fitness events on campus throughout the semester.

Applicants who are accepted for an interview will be required to do the following :

  • A 30-60 minute in-person fitness class audition.
  • A short interview to discuss job qualifications and fitness experience.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for leading both indoor and outdoor weekly fitness classes on campus.
  • Responsible for programming workouts, checking in participants, and making sure class runs smoothly.
  • Promote and encourage involvement in the GCU Fitness community on campus.
  • Current in the latest fitness trends.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the fitness class space in all Campus Recreation facilities.
  • Provide students / visitors information regarding fitness centers or other Campus Recreation programs.
  • Work at special GCU Fitness program events on campus throughout the semester.
  • This position reports to the supervisor of the GCU Fitness program.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
  • Qualifications :

  • Willingness to provide excellent customer service.
  • Positive, energetic, well-spoken, confident in standing in front of a group and leading a class.
  • At this time, we are looking for instructors to lead all class formats.
  • Looking for applicants who are comfortable and confident in teaching more than one fitness format.
  • Certified, in the process of becoming certified, majoring in Exercise Science, or experience leading a certain fitness format.
  • Current American Red Cross CPR / AED and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Maintain GCU's standard for an acceptable GPA.
  • Provide emergency care / response if necessary, upon public safety's arrival.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Mature, dependable, friendly, and punctual.
  • Willingness to work, learn, and be flexible.
  • Available to work morning, afternoon, nights, and weekends.

    Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment :

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor's program or Master's program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.

    Pay Rate : Minimum Wage

    Anticipated End Date : June 30, 2025
