American Traveler is seeking a Med / Surg RN with at least one year of specialty experience, a current ME or compact license, and BLS certification for a unique unit featuring geriatric and behavioral health patients.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a Medical Surgical Unit within a Level II Trauma Center hospitalUnit serves mainly non-acute geriatric patients, including those with behavioral or psychiatric issues and those awaiting community placementTeam nursing model with RN ratios up to 1 : 9, supported by CNAs, charge nurse, and care management staffMost patients do not require frequent IV access or special monitoringPatient care follows a nursing home model with a focus on fall prevention, skin integrity, and engaging activitiesShift is 7A-7P with 12-hour day shifts and every other weekend rotationNo on-call requiredUses Cerner for charting, as well as Alaris and Pyxis equipmentFloating may be required to other units within scope of practiceNursing duties include medication administration, dressing changes, straight catheterization, and documentation of daily patient activities and behaviorsTeam includes activity coordinators, case managers, CNAs, and 24 / 7 House Supervisor, Hospitalist, and respiratory therapy supportOrientation includes two days of hospital training plus one unit-based shiftScrubs in any professional color are permitted; no acrylic nails or crocs allowedFree parking is available in designated areasMust be able to work variable holidays as determined by unit needsFirst-time travelers are welcome to apply\n \n Requirements\n
Active ME or compact RN license requiredCurrent BLS certification requiredMinimum one year of Med / Surg or relevant specialty experience requiredExperience with geriatric, SNF, or LTAC patient populations preferredMust not have held permanent employment at any Northern Light Health hospitalCandidates must live 100+ miles south / southwest of the facility for travel eligibilityFlu vaccination required unless approved for medical exemptionReferences : two within one year, including at least one from a supervisor or managerCopies of all certifications and driver’s license required for consideration\n Benefits\n
