American Traveler seeks an experienced Charge RN for a night shift Med / Surg position, requiring a ME or compact RN license and minimum one year specialty experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 44-bed Medical Surgical Unit in a hospital settingNight shifts from 7pm to 7am with every other weekend rotationPatient population includes a wide variety of medical diagnoses except primary cardiac, including stroke, COPD, respiratory illnesses, gastrointestinal bleeds, renal failure, and moreTelemetry monitoring (Med-Tele) is performed on the unitTypical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 5-6 on nights, varying with patient acuity and support staff availabilityRequires floating as needed to any area with Med / Tele patients within or below scopeUses Cerner EMR (prior experience not required), Alaris, and Pyxis equipmentNo on-call requirementsCharge RN role primarily does not have a regular patient assignmentSupport on the unit includes CNAs, 24 / 7 house supervisor, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and unit resource RNs during the dayTwo days of hospital orientation and one unit-based shift providedNo holiday requested time off (RTO) accepted for this contractProfessional scrubs required in any color; no Crocs with holes or artificial nails permittedFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyFree staff parking available in designated areas\n \n Requirements\n
Active ME or compact RN license requiredMinimum 1 year of RN Med / Surg or related specialty experience requiredBasic Life Support (BLS) requiredNIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and ACLS / EKG interpretation preferredPrevious charge nurse experience highly preferred and willingness to act as charge expectedMust be comfortable with reading and interpreting rhythm stripsAbility to perform general Med / Surg skills including wound care, IV starts, managing cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips (training available if needed)Applicants must not have worked at any Northern Light Health hospital in a permanent capacityPermanent address must be 100+ miles South / Southwest of Bangor, ME for considerationFlu vaccination required for clearance; only medical exemptions will be considered\n Benefits\n
