Housekeeper / Cook Position

A family located in the Upper East Side of NYC is seeking an experienced, discreet candidate to join their team as a housekeeper / cook. The general schedule is 5 days per week, 40 hours guaranteed, with schedule options such as 6am-2pm, 1pm-9pm, or 10am-6pm, creating coverage with the other housekeepers on the team. The days can be Monday-Friday if needed, but a big part of this role is the ability to be flexible if needed. The family has 2 teenagers, someone comfortable around teens is needed, but childcare will not be a part of this role. The family travels and requests the housekeeper / cook accompany them when needed, and the candidate must be available for summers in the familys Hamptons home. You may commute home on your days off.

Housekeeping

Standard housekeeping duties, responsibility for the cleanliness and upkeep of the home, including all bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and common areas. Work as a team with other housekeeping staff. Perform daily housekeeping tasks : dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing surfaces, removing trash. Conduct deep cleaning : scrubbing showers / toilets, cleaning window ledges, removing cobwebs, and maintaining overall hygiene standards. Organize and maintain closets, pantries, storage spaces; perform seasonal clean-ups. Laundry, ironing, and garment care. Occasionally walk the familys 2 dogs when in the Hamptons, they have their own dog walkers when in the city.

Cooking

Prepare healthy, simple meals such as turkey burgers, grilled chicken, roasted veggies, etc. Maintain fridge cleanliness and food freshness. Wash dishes, order groceries, unpack and organize kitchen items, simple food prep on fresh produce.

Qualifications

Can work in a formal home. Highly discreet and professional. Can take constructive criticism. Can work efficiently on a team.

Requirements

This is a formal position, uniforms and candidate professionalism / discretion is key. Detail Oriented. Strong communication skills, fluent in English written and verbal. Tech savvy enough to be able to place orders, receive weekly schedule via Google Sheets, use printers, email, and certain apps. Prior full-time private household experience. Discreet, reliable, flexible. Valid drivers license is a plus, but not a requirement. Valid Passport. Able to travel with the family. Comfortable around young teenagers. Strong cooking skills. Team player. Legal to work in the US.

Salary and Benefits

$35-$45 / hr, depending on skill set. 6% 401K match. Full medical / dental insurance. End of year bonus. 2 weeks vacation, 5 sick days.
