The department of Orthopedics is seeking a Physician Assistant for the Spine Team. The Advance Practice Provider (APP) will work collaboratively with other APPs residents and faculty surgeons within the department. The APP will be expected to provide outstanding care to spine team patients working in an outpatient clinic setting. Patients span the life spectrum so the APP will see infants through geriatric patients. This role requires someone who is organized motivated and very efficient. No weekends and no call with this position. This is primarily a clinic position. Most APPs have eight to nine half day clinics per week with one to two half days for administrative work. This is a five day per week position.
Position Responsibilities :
Provide excellent care to patients perform / order medical diagnostic therapeutic procedures and prescribe dispense or deliver medications under a collaborative practice agreement. Consult / collaborate with other care team members. Use judgment to apply / adopt information within total clinical picture to address health issues. Influence others to adopt best practices.
Complete patient medical records reports and forms to record treatment for treatment record and billing purposes. Improve quality of care by performing chart reviews and participating on performance improvement committees.
Provide health education to patients and medical education to health professions students and residents. Participate in ongoing research and professional development of self and other staff.
Establish and maintain procedures and systems to assure staff compliance with policies and standards of care. Serve on committees to enhance patient care and operations. Assure team provides effective collaboration / communications. May provide feedback and coaching to other team members to assure quality of specialized care.
Assist with identification and implementation of process improvement projects and service line advancements in order to improve patient outcomes and decrease complications.
Assist with implementation of methods to capture appropriate billing / coding documentation in the EMR.
No weekends or call is expected for this role.

Desired Qualifications :
Experience working in medical-surgical inpatient surgical inpatient orthopedic outpatient or orthopedic surgical setting is highly desired.
