Security Guard 1
Olympic College is recruiting for a part-time Security Guard 1 position on the Bremerton Campus. This position will provide essential coverage for the evening shift and will work alongside a full-time Security Officer from Tuesday through Thursday. The purpose of this position is to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors on campus. Campus Security guards help prevent crime, respond to emergencies, and enforce campus rules. By patrolling the grounds and monitoring access to buildings, they create a safe learning environment.
Essential Functions
Conduct patrols at designated areas on foot or in a patrol vehicle to enforce institution rules and regulations, local, state and federal statues, laws and ordinances. Inspect buildings internally and externally and grounds for prowlers, fire, property damage, or other irregularities, resolve general issues, and contact the appropriate personnel as needed to resolve more complex issues. Administer First Aid and document in desk journal, log, or report accident injury as needed. Maintain surveillance of an area suspected of criminal or disruptive activity and report any activity to appropriate personnel as needed. Assist with answering general inquiries from the campus community and provide support as needed and / or direct to the appropriate personnel as needed. Assist with vehicle lockouts, vehicle jump starts, and cut student padlocks upon request. Assist with unlocking and locking classrooms, office spaces, buildings, etc., to ensure access to restricted areas is properly controlled and limited to authorized individuals. Set intrusion alarms to ensure that buildings are properly armed and secure. Respond to emergencies such as medical, fire, distress buttons, intrusion alarms, and law enforcement incidents on campus. Create incident reports and accident injury reports in SECOMS, and conduct follow-ups with law enforcement as needed. Operate departmental communication and technical equipment to ensure proper communication and response times. Assist city police officers, county deputy sheriffs, or Washington State patrol troopers in cases of emergency. Perform other duties as assigned, in the field environment, away from the institution, or in the office environment.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications : High school graduate or equivalent, Valid Driver's License, Certified in CPR / FIRST AID / AED (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire date). Desired Qualifications : At least one year of experience in security, Bloodborne Pathogens, Demonstrate interpersonal skills and communicate effectively with various populations. Capable of learning and enforcing rules, following written and verbal instructions, making sound judgments and decisions, maintaining objectivity and fairness.
Terms of Employment : Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered. Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six-month period to become eligible for health benefits. Hourly employees must work 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to become eligible for retirement. This is an hourly position scheduled to work up to 18 hours per week, with a salary of $21.43 - $27.96 hourly
Conditions of Employment : Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment, but will be considered the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position. In addition to the background check, candidates will be required to complete the Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form as required by WB HB 2327. The employee must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance of the campus to respond to workplace reporting requirements at the time of hiring. Frequent travel to Olympic College campuses or other sites may occur.
