Supply Chain Engineer
The SMT Logistics team supports GPSC sourcing decisions with logistic solutions and cost. The Supply Chain Engineer works closely with GM Global Purchasing to optimize total enterprise cost solutions. The work of a Supply Chain Engineer involves a high level of independent judgment, strategic vision, detailed analysis, and outstanding communication skills.
Responsibilities :
- Proactively work with Purchasing Creativity Teams to understand and support the development of sourcing strategies to optimize total enterprise cost solutions
- Responsible to support detailed analysis of various supplier footprints, delivery methods, container assumptions, value chains and business case scenarios to optimize total enterprise cost solutions
- Single point of contact between Purchasing and Global Logistics & Containers to support the following types of studies :
- Advanced Purchasing Sourcing
- Business Transfer
- Expendable / Returnable Packaging
- Tariff / Customs and Duties
- Supplier Footprint
- Logistics / Total Enterprise Cost Savings
- Functional representative for Global Logistics & Containers for an assigned SMT, at all Sourcing Committee reviews
- Coordinate risk mitigation action plans with buyers, logistics and containers when applicable
- Communication of Sourcing decisions to Global Logistics & Containers team
- Support development and training of processes for new SCE & buyers
- Support special projects
Required Qualifications :
2+ years post graduate experience in supply chain, logistics, manufacturing, purchasing, program / product management, or product developmentStrong analytical, strategic planning and leadership abilitiesDemonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related areaExceptional interpersonal style and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goalsKnowledge of basic computer softwareAbility to network and collaborate cross-functionally and globallyAbility to work effectively in multi-cultural environmentsPreferred :
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, related field, or equivalent work experienceKnowledge of Supply Chain policies and processes including such areas as global logistics procurement, network design, external service providers, containerization, material management and purchasing systems, tools and processWork experience in related areas such as Supply Chain / Logistics Operations, Containerization, Direct Material / Logistics PurchasingGM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
