Host/Hostess

Basso Westport is a lively Italian-inspired gastropub located in the heart of Westport Plaza. Known for wood-fired pizzas, inventive cocktails, and a warm atmosphere, we pride ourselves on delivering memorable dining experiences. We’re looking for a friendly and professional Host/Hostess to be the first point of contact for our guests and help set the tone for their visit.

As a Host/Hostess, you’ll greet and seat guests, manage the flow of the dining room, and assist with front-of-house operations to ensure smooth service. This is a guest-facing role that requires professionalism, organization, and a welcoming attitude.

• Greet and welcome guests warmly as they arrive

• Manage seating charts and assign tables to balance guest flow and server sections

• Monitor dining room activity to ensure efficient seating and turnover

• Answer phones, respond to guest inquiries, and assist with reservations and takeout orders

• Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning and organizing the host stand

• Support fellow team members with side work such as stocking, folding silverware, and light cleaning

• Provide professional and timely communication with both guests and team members

• Foster a positive, guest-first atmosphere by working collaboratively with servers, bartenders, and management

• Strong verbal communication and customer service skills

• Ability to handle conflict resolution in a professional manner

• Team-oriented and willing to assist other departments as needed

• Positive energy, professionalism, and attention to detail

• Prior restaurant or hotel host/hostess experience preferred, but not required

• High school diploma or equivalent
