About the Coronado National Forest
The Coronado National Forest spans nearly two million acres across southeastern Arizona
and southwestern New Mexico, encompassing a remarkable diversity of landscapes-from
desert canyons and grasslands to high-elevation pine forests. Managed by the U.S. Forest
Service, the forest includes 12 distinct "sky island" mountain ranges that support rich
biodiversity and offer year-round opportunities for recreation, conservation, and resource
management. Staff and partners working in the Coronado play a vital role in protecting its
unique ecosystems, maintaining trails and facilities, and supporting sustainable access to this
extraordinary natural resource.
Position Overview
The Crew Leader will work in collaboration with Forest Service staff to lead a small team of
ACE Members in maintaining and improving recreation facilities, trails, and infrastructure
throughout the Santa Catalina and Nogales and Rangers districts. The Crew Leader is
responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality work performance, as well as fostering
a positive crew culture focused on teamwork, learning, and environmental stewardship.
This position combines hands-on fieldwork with crew supervision and project coordination.
Candidates with carpentry or construction skills and prior leadership experience are
strongly encouraged to apply.
