Inova Orthopedics is seeking a dedicated and skilled Specialty Nurse Practitioner or Specialty Physician Assistant (NP / PA) to join our Back & Neck specialty team. This outpatient-focused position offers opportunities to work with a collaborative team back and neck related orthopedic conditions.

Job Responsibilities :
Conduct comprehensive evaluations for patients with spine-related conditions (e.g., back / neck pain, spinal stenosis, herniated discs, degenerative disorders)Obtain detailed patient histories, perform physical examinations, and interpret diagnostic imaging (MRI, CT, X-ray)Collaborate with supervising physicians to develop differential diagnoses and individualized treatment plansInitiate and manage non-operative care, including physical therapy referrals, medication management, and spinal / joint injectionsAssist in surgical procedures, including patient positioning, prepping, and first or second assist in the OR (e.g., laminectomy, discectomy, spinal fusion)Manage pre-operative and post-operative care : wound assessments, dressing changes, and suture / staple removalEducate patients and families on spine anatomy, treatment options, recovery expectations, and long-term spine healthCoordinate care transitions between inpatient and outpatient settings to ensure continuity and follow-upCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physical therapists, radiologists, and pain management specialistsDocument all patient encounters, assessments, and procedures accurately and promptly in the EMREnsure adherence to hospital protocols, state regulations, and scope-of-practice requirementsServe as a key point of contact for patient questions and concerns throughout the care continuumProvide emotional support for patients undergoing complex or chronic spine treatmentStay current with clinical best practices, spine care advancements, and surgical techniques through ongoing education and CMEParticipate in team meetings, clinical case reviews, and continuous quality improvement initiativesAdditional Requirements
