Job Summary
The Assistant Parts Manager - Heavy Equipment is responsible for overseeing inventory accuracy, ensuring timely receipt and distribution of parts, maintaining organized storage systems, and assisting mechanics and operations staff with parts availability in the Heavy Equipment Garage. The Assistant Parts Manager works closely with the Parts Manager to streamline processes, control costs, and provide excellent internal service.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Oversight : Assist in monitoring stock levels, verifying incoming parts, and ensuring accurate labeling, storage, and tracking.
- Stock Control : Support regular inventory audits, reconcile discrepancies, and maintain proper documentation, such as purchase orders, in inventory management systems.
- Parts Distribution : Coordinate the picking, packing, and issuing of parts to mechanics, field staff, and other departments in a timely manner.
- Organization & Storage : Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient parts storage system for easy accessibility and retrieval.
- Vendor & Order Support : Assist with placing orders, tracking deliveries, and communicating with suppliers regarding parts availability or issues.
- Customer Service : Provide responsive support to internal teams by locating and issuing required parts and answering inquiries regarding stock or order status.
- Process Improvement : Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, reduce waste, and streamline parts distribution processes.
- Safety Compliance : Follow all warehouse and garage safety protocols, including proper handling, storage, and use of equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Reporting : Prepare and maintain records and reports related to purchase orders, parts usage, inventory levels, and stock movement for review by the Parts Manager.
Skills and Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or certifications in supply chain, logistics, or inventory management preferred.2+ years of experience in parts, warehouse, or inventory management (heavy equipment or automotive industry experience strongly preferred).Familiarity with parts management or ERP software systems.Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jack).Effective communication and teamwork skills.Strong problem-solving ability and initiative to support a fast-paced garage environment.Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move heavy parts (up to 50 lbs.).Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.Comfortable working in a garage / warehouse environment with varying temperatures and conditions.Working Hours
