About the Role
We are on the lookout for a Senior Data Visualization Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and enhancing key dashboards, metrics, and visual frameworks. This includes managing the company's primary reporting website used in executive business review meetings. You will create data pipelines from diverse data sources across the organization, ensuring that critical metrics remain accurate and current. Furthermore, you will utilize AI and ML tools to elevate our visualizations and self-service reporting capabilities. Your analytical skills will be essential in extracting business insights to inform Zillow's overall strategy and direction.
What You'll Do
- Lead the evolution of the internal reporting strategy site, leveraging scripting and AI tools to devise and implement innovative solutions.
- Design, maintain, and optimize high-visibility dashboards and data visualizations to support decision-making at all levels.
- Establish and manage data pipelines following best practices to guarantee accuracy and consistency in our metrics and dashboards.
- Conduct thorough analyses of company-wide datasets to address business inquiries, highlight trends, and deliver actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Communicate complex analyses and insights effectively to a diverse range of cross-functional stakeholders, including senior leadership.
- Transform intricate data questions into straightforward visual narratives that facilitate strategic decision-making.
- Create scalable self-service analytical frameworks for teams across product, operations, marketing, and executive functions.
- Scope, estimate, and drive forward strategic analyses, ranging from company-wide reviews to in-depth assessments that support individual initiatives.
Who You Are
Required
A versatile data generalist with a proven ability to utilize data to solve business problems.6+ years of experience in data visualization, business intelligence, or analytics engineering.Expert SQL skills for data transformation in large-scale environments.Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and visualization (e.g., using pandas, pyspark, plotly).Experience with front-end scripting languages or AI-supported front-end tools for automating reporting portals.Familiarity with ETL / orchestration tools and best practices in version control.Hands-on experience in big-data environments (Databricks, Spark, Redshift / Snowflake).A strong background in BI tools (Tableau, Looker) and data visualization libraries (plotly, node.js).Demonstrated ability to manage and troubleshoot high-visibility dashboards effectively.Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, capable of distilling complex data insights into actionable narratives.Robust business analytics skills, experienced in handling large datasets and advanced analytical techniques.A creative, problem-solving mindset to tackle ambiguous business challenges with a data-driven approach.A collaborative work style, focused on execution and delivering results.Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Business Analytics, Finance, or another quantitative field.Preferred
