We're seeking a Biomedical Technician to join our team! We will consider a BMET I or BMET II for this role. With responsibilities for general and advanced patient care equipment service and maintenance performance. The BMET position has direct reporting responsibilities to the assigned affiliate Unity Point Clinical Engineer Site Manager or designated Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for coordination and performance of medical equipment project management assignments generally associated with either system relocations or new facility additions / renovations.
• Performs electrical safety testing and quality assurance inspections of all general medical devices.
• Must be able to understand and demonstrate required troubleshooting skills, decipher electronic schematics and use of service manual documentation.
• Must have general knowledge and understanding of PC's and required computer / network operating systems.
• Coordinates and performs both scheduled and emergency equipment repairs of general and advanced medical devices as assigned seeing them through to completion and return back to the clinical environment.
• Responsible for recording in the Clinical Engineering CMMS software database any assigned medical device service or maintenance event performed. All recordings are to be accurate and timely in manner to assure integrity of all CMMS archived medical device and staff work performance history.
• Adheres to assigned on-call rotations at assigned affiliate site and follows required availability and reporting to site as identified in the Clinical Engineering On-Call policy.
• Communicates and updates all clinical customers as to medical equipment service and maintenance events and device status to assure best delivery of care for all UPH affiliate patients.
• Provides education to clinical customers as to proper use and operation of medical equipment.

Qualifications

Education :

• Level I Requirement :

HS Diploma or equivalent

• Level II Requirement :

Associates degree or Certificate Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or Information Technology / Systems related programs; military Biomedical Engineering Technician course graduate or BMET Certification

Experience :

• Level I Requirements :

Entry Level, zero to two (0 - 2) year's documented Biomedical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience

• Preferred : 3 months experience working with Biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment
• Level II Requirements :

Minimum two (2) year's documented Biomedical Engineering Technology experience AND currently meets all BMET II job function requirements.

• Requires knowledge of federal healthcare laws and regulations.

• Possesses excellent written and verbal communications.
• Ability to work as a team member, creating and maintaining effective working relationships.
• Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies and procedures.
